Our
Work in the Community
The Epicurean Shea Butter Company
strives to make a positive impact in community
and our environment. With this focus, Epicurean proudly supports
organizations in our local communities with donations of cash, books
and products.
While we feel that there are many groups that
contribute greatly to our community, Epicurean has chosen to support
very specific organizations. These organizations include those who
offer assistance to those in our community with lower than average
incomes and those with limited access to some of the most basic
necessities.
Currently we support Baltimore Reads, an organization with a mission
to help educationally disadvantaged adults and families improve their
quality of life and self-sufficiency through strong literacy and job
training programs. To date, we have donated over 5,000 books for their
reading programs.
We have also worked exclusively with Goodwill Industries
International,
North America’s leading nonprofit provider of education, training, and
career services for people with disadvantages, such as welfare
dependency, homelessness, and lack of education or work experience, as
well as those with physical, mental and emotional disabilities,
to provide us with local personnel to staff our operation.
We are also involved with the Hands on DC network which gathers
organizations and individuals together to paint and beautify public
schools in the Washington, DC area as well as career mentoring with
the Maya Angelou Public Charter School
and Anacostia High School.
We feel that social responsibility goes hand in
hand with our manufacturing responsibility to produce the finest bath
and body care products available. The Epicurean Shea Butter Company is
committed to making our communities better places to live.
